Otherwise it will be extremely painful, and could leave a nasty scar or keloid. If you do buy jewelry, it should be from your professional to be sure it's sterile and non-toxic. Also, you should never change the jewelry yourself. Most shops will do it in a sterile environment for free or for a very small charge.
